A Prayer for Healing of Mind, Body and Soul
Debbie Friedman, Jewish musical innovator and all around super Jew, has been reported to be in critical condition in an Orange County, CA hospital.
Please take a moment and sing her songs, think of her contribution to modern Jewish life and how we all would not be here talking on this blog and fighting about important progressive issues if it weren’t for people liker her throughout history.
She now needs us to provide her the healing and support she has always provided us.
Thank you.
Update: There will be a healing service for Debbie Friedman at the JCC of Manhattan and it will be streamed online so people unable to attend in person can watch online.
Info: Sunday, January 9 at 8pm
JCC of Manhattan (334 Amsterdam Avenue at 76th St.)

I think it’s Dena Leah bat Freidl. That’s what I saw on Twitter and it’s more likely that someone assumed Devorah than assumed Dena Leah. The JTA article said that other family members of her’s needed to be kept in people’s thoughts as well.

It’s Dina Lea bat Freidl v’ Gabriel, from a memo sent out by the Women’s Rabbinic Network to its members.

Dear friends,
As you know, our teacher Debbie Friedman has been hospitalized in Los Angeles, and unfortunately the situation is very serious. As a colleague on campus poignantly expressed to me yesterday: let us pray for the healing of this special person who gave so many of us the powerful words and music to pray for healing.
A healing service for Debbie is now being planned. It will take place at the JCC of Manhattan this Sunday evening, January 9, at 8pm. The JCC is located at 334 Amsterdam Avenue at 76th St. I should have more details later in the day, and when I do, I will let you know.
…
May the Source of Strength who blessed the ones before us bless Debbie, and all who are in need of healing, with refuah shleimah–the renewal of body, the renewal of spirit. And let us say: amen.
