The Talmud in Anti-Semitic Polemics (and Starbucks)

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) announces the publication of a new ADL research report, The Talmud in Anti-Semitic Polemics. This report was written by ADL rabbinical staff to help respond to the growing number of anti-Semites who cite Talmudic passages as evidence that Judaism is depraved and immoral.

This report was written to help Jewish individuals understand and respond to these allegations by explicating the Talmudic texts that are being distorted. Anti-Semitic claims refuted in the report include Judaism viewing non-Jews as “non-human,” Judaism encouraging child molestation, not trusting Jews because they recite the Kol Nidre prayer that authorizes them to lie to non-Jews, the claim that Judaism demands that non-Jews who study Jewish law be put to death, and the claim that the Talmud employs the name Bala’am as a derogatory code name for Jesus.

Also, in case you were interested, the ADL also reports that the Startbucks rumor is false.
