  1. Ya gotta love it! A leader of the AJC (of all groups) says another religion is “gathering like a dark cloud of locusts.” Do Jews ever “gather like a dark cloud of locusts” .. in print .. in the Palm Beach Post? Would a line like that have ever, EVER gotten past a Post editor? Nah. Fascinating just how deep Christian self-hatred has soaked in.
No, for all his noise about JFJ not being Jews, Granick makes such comments precisely because they *are* Jews and he knows it.
He–indeed all of Reform Jewry–face self-extinction, due to failure to keep the commandments, utter ignorance of and indifference to halacha, and miscegenation (also ranted about as “the Second Holocaust” as if loving someone equalled mass murder! “Dark cloud of locusts” — kinda eminds you of Jerry Falwell and homosexuals, doesn’t it?).
His hate is the Americanized version of Israeli Ashkenazi hatred of the Haredi. Same virulent, spittle-flying vein-bulging hysteric intolerance for Jews who believe differently (and doubtless attend temple more frequently!)
No, Reform Jewry is going to have to find something to live *for*, something worth teaching their children, if they are to survive. Projecting his existential fear on others, hating JFJ and those interbreeding “Second Holocausters (you know, the evil Christian guy who married your cousin) just ain’t gonna be enough for Reform Jewry to survive.
And Zionism just doesn’t work. Who wants to be just another Jewish plumber or bricklayer in Israel, when you can be a college professor, porn star or professional pundit in the Galut?
And going back to the ghetto/shtetl just doesn’t work either. How many Jews with any brains at all could stomach the mind-stultifying, repressive rabbi rule of Williamsburg or Kiryas Joel.
No, he doesn’t have an easy task. But no matter how desperate Reform Jewry is, attacking JFJ is a pathetic and ineffective rear-guard action.

  2. was it really reform jews attacking jfj? I thought it was the whole “senior” jewish community. (gosh, palm beach is full of seniors!)
