“Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis’s recent comments that Jews are the ‘root of all evil’ resemble the kind of anti-Semitism espoused by Nazi leaders Adolf Hitler and Joseph Goebbels, Justice Minister Yosef Lapid said today. Greek spokesmen said their government ‘does not share and is not in agreement with the opinion expressed by Mr. Theodorakis.’ [However] the number of anti-Semitic incidents in Greece is on the rise, the Simon Wiesenthal Center says.”
