  1. There are too many unknowns, too many events yet to play, and too many parties; Predicting the outcome of this war, never mind its regional consequences, is near impossible.
Let’s focus on the events at hand, and guide each with our collective desire for justice and good. Then, just maybe, we’ll sidestep the next (even larger) war our enemies desire.

  2. hey ! just found your site today. I have a special interest in the Jewish community since my Lord Jesus was a Jew… are you Messianic Jews? Anyhow, I pray for the peace of Israel as we’re commanded to – and wish you God’s blessing in this journey called life. God Bless!!

  3. That the Iraqi war is bad for Israel’s interests doesn’t really contradict the “neocon conspiracy theories” as such – it could just be that the neocon conspirators are stupid as well as evil.

  4. If this thing goes south, people surely will be looking for someone or some cabal to blame. Right and Left, Chomskyite and Buchananite, have long been eager to advance the notion of the Zionist boogeyman. Even the executive director of the 9/11 Commission Richard Zelikow, the commission’s liason to the Bush administration, has apparently been making noises for a while now effectively portraying the Iraq invasion as a shill for Israeli interests:
“I’ll tell you what I think the real threat (is) and actually has been since 1990 — it’s the threat against Israel…. And this is the threat that dare not speak its name, because the Europeans don’t care deeply about that threat, I will tell you frankly. And the American government doesn’t want to lean too hard on it rhetorically, because it is not a popular sell.”

The worst thing is if the Busheviks rush through this thing toward the June 30 deadline, then cuts and runs like Reagan out of Beirut in the cynical interest of reelection and the well-being of their Saudi friends — “The Jews” will simply prove more expendable than Prince Bandar and family.
Some will blame liberals, the left, and Democrats, and many will blame the Jews. Those who recognize the need for greater liberalization in the process of world economic globalization, who recognize that terrorism is neither righteous resistance, and who have a genuine respect for universal human rights and a healthy skepticism for religious dogma, need to articulate it better. Otherwise despotism has all the muscle and the edge.

  5. More disturbing news….
In Shuala, a Shi’ite suburb of Baghdad that saw fierce fighting between Sadr’s militia, the Mahdi Army, and US troops last week, police officers pulled up to the Sadr office in pickup trucks throughout the day to get instructions from the clerics.
“We are policemen, yes, but also Mahdi. And the Mahdi is stronger,” said Natik Hussein, a 21-year-old policeman busy taping a poster of Sadr to his police truck as his colleagues played with the siren, turning it on and off. “Sadr is the ultimate authority. The Americans are Jews.”
