Oops! Our Bad!

The JTA reports,

The Israeli army admitted it was wrong when it said a video showed a Palestinian rocket being loaded into a U.N. vehicle.

A spokeswoman for the Israel Defense Forces made the admission Tuesday while speaking to a Knesset committee. Israel recently asked U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan to investigate the possibility that ambulances affiliated with UNRWA, the U.N. agency responsible for Palestinian refugees, were being used to transport rockets.

Welp, it’s not like they don’t have good reason to be suspicious.

  1. Good link to the clip.
The UN is also expecting an apology. Do we give them one? I don’t think they’ve ever apologized for hiding a lot of evidence from when they witnessed and filmed Hezbollah attacking, killing, and taking the bodies hostage in October 2000.

  2. The clip is from an IDF raid into the Zeitun neighborhood of Gaza on May 11th. AFAIK there was no investigation in UNWRA to determine what the ambulance was doing there (in fact, AFAIK, they never addressed the issue).

  3. Correction: there was a statment made by UNWRA claiming that armed men forced an ambulance to transport a wounded fighter and two armed escorts during the raid, but I don’t know if this is the same incident; in the video, I didn’t see anyone threaten the ambulance crew, and you can see four armed men boarding the ambulance (besides one whose apparently wounded).
