  1. Tell that pasuk to the thousands of victims of his long history of terrorism. I hope his pain and suffering was long and I hope that wherever he is now, it is uncomfortable and equally as painful as the final months of his life.

  2. By posting that I had no intention of implying that I think pretty much anything that man did while alive was OK. I don’t think that.
    But after working as a hospice chaplain and being with an awful lot of people while they’re dying and/or as they die, I’m increasingly convinced that our job is to manage issues of justice for the living. I’m sorry that Arafat wasn’t held more accountable during his life for what he did during his life. But I’m also pretty certain that what happens to/for the dying and the dead is God’s job, and God can handle it and probably doesn’t need our opinion on the subject.
    I’m not going to mourn the man’s passing. And yeah, I (realistically or not) have hope that things will improve for the better now and that fewer people will be hurt now. And I’m not pleased that Arafat did as much harm as he did while alive. But I refuse to dance on his grave. That, imho, does not help us or move us forward at all.

  3. The verse is referring to a Jewish enemy.
    Arafat’s death like the death of any Nazi is cause to rejoice.
    Please don’t decide scriptual interpretation according to any body who e-mails you. Check your sources first so that you maintain your site’s credibility.
    By the way good work on your site although I don’t agree with a lot of the racier posts.

  4. Moadim l’simcha folks.
    Time to hand out candy to strangers on the street,
    Should we say Hallel tomorrow (without bracha of course) during shacharit?

  5. The near future will not be a happy one for the Jews, so let us celebrate this great news now. After that comes the tried and proven to fail ‘confidence building measures’, the appeasement when the next terrorist attacks occur so as not to harm the ‘moderates’ attempts at reigning in the ‘militants’, and negotiations about retreating from Jewish land.
    Proverbs
    Chapter 11
    7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish, and the hope of strength perisheth.
    10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth; and when the wicked perish, there is joy.
    And from today’s tehilim/psalms
    Chapter 129
    1 A Song of Ascents. {N}
    ‘Much have they afflicted me from my youth up’, let Israel now say;
    2 ‘Much have they afflicted me from my youth up; but they have not prevailed against me.
    3 The plowers plowed upon my back; they made long their furrows.
    4 The LORD is righteous; He hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked.’
    5 Let them be ashamed and turned backward, all they that hate Zion.
    6 Let them be as the grass upon the housetops, which withereth afore it springeth up;
    7 Wherewith the reaper filleth not his hand, nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom.
    8 Neither do they that go by say: ‘The blessing of the LORD be upon you; {N}
    we bless you in the name of the LORD.’ {P}
