Jew Go Where Eye Go

Gotham Pixel‘s Chris Walker shares the following snapshots from two recent NYC parades.

Mermaid Parade: “I came across the freestyle rapping Jew in the staging and setup area of the annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade on Saturday, June 25th. He was extremely out of place considering you had to pay to be in this area and everyone was busy preparing to march in the parade.”
***

Gay Pride: “Across the street form St. Patrick’s Cathedral I found these two specifically quarantined off and surrounded by at least 6 police offers. Watching the faces of the jovial parade goers as the signs caught their attention was heartbreaking. My belief in ‘freedom of speech’ had never been tested to such an extreme. I wanted to throw my camera at their heads.”
[Update] The identity of this hateful wretch is revealed here.

  1. I don’t see why the freestyle raping jew gets off the hook, while the gay bashing jews almost get a camera hurled at them. 🙂 I’m joking of course.
    Unfortunate spelling error indeed.

  2. Amazing – I am an Orthodox Jew, and have presented my arguments against ‘normalization’ of homosexuality – but the notion that we humans “know” why G-d “sent” AIDS is absolutely flabbergasting.
In addition, the entire tone is way off Judaism’s approach to sinners (or in this case, to people who really are unbalanced and in pain).
We also know that G-d is very “economical” – using a single historical incident to test many people in different ways. So maybe AIDS was sent to test the rest of us – to gauge the extent of our compassion?
This is the epitome of Chilul HaShem.

  3. These guys are obviously asses. This is definetely a Chilul Hashem. (I do agree with the first half of their sign) But it is great to see how y’all jump all over them. This is America. They have the right to their opinion as do the feigels marching across the street. As does raping rapper in expressing himself as best he pleases. (Typo, I know)
But if you can embrace the feigelach for publicly expressing their (I belive) misguided feelings, please embrace these nuts non-violently expressing their stupidity. G-d bless America.

  4. As a Proud and Out Gay Jew who marched in Toronto’s Pride Parade this year, it never ceases to amaze me how hypocritical people can be.
The Jewish community wants the freedom to live according to thier beliefs and values, but some the conservative Orthodox segment of our people (such as this man in the picture) don’t seem to understand that freedom and liberty can’t be selectively given.
Welcome to reality. If you want the freedom to have an Israel Day Parade, to have Batei Din, to run our own pivate schools, then you have to respect the freedom of others.

  5. Oh… and I thought people might like the song we were singing in the parade:
If you’re Jewish and your Gay clap your hands
If you’re Jewish and your Gay clap your hands
If you’re Jewish and your Gay and you know that it’s OK
If you’re Jewish and your Gay clap your hands
    etc.

  6. If you’re Jewish and your Gay and you know that it’s OK
    – – – – – – – – – – – –
Tommaleh – just like that Ortho guy was overstepping by telling us G-d’s thoughts about AIDS – you, too are overstepping – and rolling over Judaism – by telling us “it’s OK”.
If you’re Jewish and your Gay clap your hands
    etc.
    – – – – – – – – – – –
    …so what’s the etcetera?
After clapping your hands you go home to… what?

  7. okay, so these guys look like asses. but, the first parrt of their sign is absolutely true. In fact, the passuk about homosexuality as “an abomination” is listed right next to beastiality….not equating the two, but they are mentioned together as sexual perversions. And there is a concept in Judaism that all tzoros (pain, hardship, disease) comes from sexual perversion…look at everytime the Jews let their sexuality overcome them…what happened? Hashem responded with a plague and thousands of people died. I’m referring specifically to the sins with the Midianite women sent by Balak. So it is understandable that these guys can hold up signs like this. Eveything is from Hashem, including AIDS. I don’t know if AIDS was sent to punish Gays specifically, but one can argue that it did arise out of the “free love” 60’s. I think homosexuality has got to be the toughest test Hashem can send a person….but it doesn’t mean that one should give in to his/her sexual preferences….just b/c the test is hard. Who knows why he/she has this test? But, it is Hashem’s will that a man should not lie with another man…the Torah spells it out black and white.

  8. TOM C:
With all due respect what IS ok with being gay and Jewish? Dont mean to open a can of worms here, but do you actually feel that Judaism condones homosexual behavior?

  9. I always wonder why people say that God sent AIDS to punish gay men when the virus seems to have originated in Africa somewhere and the majority of people now afflicted with disease are most probably heterosexual people in Africa.
And Ben David – Tom was giving his own opinion that being gay is ok – he wasn’t pretending to know God’s thoughts. One is his own belief, the other is presuming to know the mind of God. A big difference, in my opinion.
And Jeremy – take a look at the pasuk in Lev. again – it doesn’t prohibit something called “homosexuality” – it condemns men who engage in a certain sexual act with each other. Some Jewish gay men argue that that is all the verse means, and that in order to follow the halakhah, they will avoid doing that act (see Shlomo Ashkinazi in “Trembling Before G-d”).

  10. My nigga Chuck, he loved to f**k

  11. I would like to thank you for posting my picture.I was later joined by other fellow Jews who got stuck in traffic trying to get to the anti gay rally. We were also joined by arabs and christians.Thos photos will be posted as soon as possible. We got coverage on 2 tv stations and several newspapers including the ny newsday.Once again thank you for the coverage. The reason we kept young demonstrators away is not to be exposed to the filth and evil that smelled up fifth Ave.I REMAIN Heshy

  12. So I guess the pix were not hoaxes – thanks Heshy for the proof that Jews can be as deluded as anyone else.

  13. Perhaps, Heshy, you should take a lesson from the button that Jewschool is advertising on top left – “love your neighbor as yourself.”

  14. What an embarrassment. What a travesty. I hope that you wake up to find out that all of your children, grandchildren and first cousins are gay and that you should be forced to live with them, Heshy.

  15. jack I hope you wake up to see all your children and grandchildren become chassidic ultra orthodox Jews who will attack secularist in Israel when they drive on Shabbos

  16. In response to the question asked of me:
Yes, I do believe that it’s OK to be Gay and Jewish.
It’s not an oxymoron. It’s not evil. I am Gay. Hashem made me this way. While those who disagree with my viewpoint may choose to disregard them there are halachik arguments that support my case – which shouldn’t be surprising as Halacha is a flexible and diverse body of law and tradition.
As a gay Jew I find myself torn between two sides – the anti-Israel & sometimes antisemetic Left and the homophobic Jewish community.
I thank God that the homophobia is fading. I specifically recall the shock and outrage that my friends at Hillel had at a shabbat dinner when I revealed I was interested in dating someone. The shock was that I was interested in a non-Jew, not that it was a guy (I’m very active in my community).
Dispite what some might think about that, I see it as a sign of progress.
    Be’Shalom,
    Tom

  17. You can all not view updated authentic Jewish posts on my new blog called HESHYS HOUSE.BLOGSPOT.COM
You will see and read information from behind the scenes and better understand why the world revolves around the Jew.The real Jew.The Jew who keeps the Torah and observes the mitzvohs.

  18. To Frankie,
Now we know why G-d allowed a terrorist train attack in Britain. You play with G-ds laws he shows you who is boss.

  19. Heshy, HIV has killed a lot of children. You are implying that HaShem kills and orphans innocent children to punish gays. This is beyond shocking. Chilul HaShem indeed.

  20. I haave to say i agree with poikilotherm. AIDS does not only affect gay people- not by a long shot. It affects anyone who is careless enough not to use protection.
Also in regards to the Levitivus quote i just wanted to ask- have you read the whole of leviticus? Didnt think so. Who read the whole of leviticus….um… what are they called again? Ahh yes rabbis! Religious leaders! who despite preaching the idea that they only want the truly dedicated to be jewish still find the need within themselves to advertise jewdaism in order to prevent people from converting outwards. If this means cutting and censoring a few thing- SO BE IT!
How about you read this well written letter, addressed to DR. Laura after she quoted leviticus on that very same thing!
    “Dear Dr. Laura,
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate.
I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to best follow them.
    a) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
    b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
    c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
    d) Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can’t I own Canadians?
    e) I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
    g) Lev 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
    h) Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev 19:27. How should they die?
    i) I know from Lev 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
    j) My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev 24:10-16) Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help.
Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging.
Your devoted disciple and adoring fan.

  21. i found this site accedently in google… and couldnt take my eyes of..
I live in Israel now and ofcorse i am jew. But i also a gay man. and if this is not enough i have born in Russia…
What i am trying to say that i considered to be outsider. But i am proud to be jew and gay. i read some oppinions and i wonder how poeple think they know so much about what is wrong and right…. many use interpretation of jew “laws”, but wait… you cannot do it. a person cannot REALY understand the meaning of what is written… its not so simple.. its all been written in spiritual way – everyone understand it by his own spiritual awarness… and i am talking as someone who know hebrew VERY well…
There are poeple who need to learn and understand the “yesod zahar” – male basis….
i wont explain it here, all i want to say is just be tolerent…
    have a nice year.
    M. Benor.
