Orthodox Shul Vandalized in London, UK

An Orthodox synagogue in Stamford Hill in London has been attacked, vandalized and desecrated by religious-ethnic nationalists.
Windows were smashed after bottles were hurled at them last Thursday evening and the front of the building was covered with red spray paint.
However Jewschool readers might be surprised at the identity of the perpetrators of this latest anti-Jewish hate attack…
Full story.

  1. what happened to “Ahavat Israel” and all that? This shameful vandalic act will only fuel the anti-semites -who don’t need too much to get started, anyway- as well as those who are against the Jewish people’s right to self determination and national sovereignty.

  2. obviously jewish vandalism against anyone is reprehensible; there is no broad lesson to be learned here, other than any group can produce vandals. anti semites don’t need excuses to be antisemites, they hate all of us without reason; i don’t hate all xtains because the presbyterians want to disinvest from israel (a much more reprehensible act on the part of a large group than what the vandals did), so let’s not get all excited and start zionist bashing or frum bashing because a couple of miscreants ran amuck.

  3. “…the perpetrators of this latest anti-Jewish hate attack…”
How is the attack anti-Jewish? The attackers were apparently motivated by animus against a group that supports murderers of Jews.
I won’t condone or defend the vandalism – it was wrong both morally and practically. However, just because a few people were overzealous and crossed the line into criminal behavior doesn’t mean that the rest of us shouldn’t share their opinion of the Neturei Karta, or any other individual or group that provides assistance or moral support to murderers, be they religious or secular. Hameyvin yavin.
The perpetrators should turn themselves in and accept their punishment, pay restitution, apologize publicly, commit themselves never to act this way again, and ask forgiveness on Yom Kippur. Adult members of the Neturei karta of sound mind, on the other hand, needn’t bother with the latter.

  4. J: a group that supports murderers of Jews
I don’t see any proof that supports this statement. Just because someone is anti-Zionist doesn’t mean they support any murderers; that’s the most slanted, crazy thinking I can imagine. Can’t people just get along?? What’s the point of *intimidating* people into being pro-Israel? Anyway, if anti-Zionists are somehow pro-murder, then Zionists are, too. We all have blood on our hands, so let’s forgive and forget and have a good friggin’ Yom Kippur already. 😛

  5. Isn’t it a bit dishonest to use the title “Orthodox Shul Vandalized in London”? You make it sound like Jews were the victims of this.

  6. SheikhYahudi wrote: ” Now, now John, you want me to feel sorry for the Neturei Karta nazis?”
No – that’s fine; side with the cossacks against the Shul – you are a right winger after all. Why should anyone expect anything different?
Sheikh Yahudi wrote: ” Isn’t it a bit dishonest to use the title “Orthodox Shul Vandalized in London”?”
    I don’t think so – do you ?
Sheikh Yahudi wrote: “You make it sound like Jews were the victims of this.”
    Yup.

  7. There isn’t much difference between Jews vandalizing Neturei Karta shuls and Jews like Finkelstein falsely accusing a Jew of plagerizing a defense of Israel. But John Brown would never post about something like that.
John Brown wants us to think he’s defending Jews here. But he’s really just accusing Jews again. What a fucking phoney.

  8. This is a perfect example of how John Brown (and the political left in general) twists obvious facts:
    John Brown says:
No – that’s fine; side with the cossacks against the Shul – you are a right winger after all. Why should anyone expect anything different?
You know perfectly well, that I’m “siding” with people who attacked NETUREI KARTA – the organization that aids and comforts the bloodthirsty murderers of Jews and openly and consistently calls for the destruction of Israel. Yet, you make it sound like I am sympathizing with people who attacked a regular orthodox shul out of their hatred for the Jews. The same goes for the shamelessly misleading title of your post. Had the kappos in Auschwitz built thier own place of worship, and had it been attacked by Jewish inmanes, the likes of you would have called it an “anti-jewish attack”.
If anyone should be compared to the cossacks it’s the murderous thugs that the Neturei Karta supports, who are currently in the beggining stage of devouring each other: http://tinyurl.com/8boul Let’s not forget that the Neturei Karta also prayed at the deathbed of the pedophile jew-killer Arafat. Hopefully they contracted his AIDS.

  9. those niturei guys are so damn fringe! look at the list of organsiations that are oppossed to them (the list is taken from a statement that was amde by the United Orthodox Communities of New York , and is aprt of the original jewschool link to this article. I always thought that Satmar was part of these guys but maybe not. I do think they are a cool/ colourful/ interesting brand of Jewish fringe. I’m glad they’re around but neverthless they deserve everything that they got with this one!

  10. Flurry says:
“J: a group that supports murderers of Jews
I don’t see any proof that supports this statement.”
Maybe you should look around a little.
“Just because someone is anti-Zionist doesn’t mean they support any murderers; that’s the most slanted, crazy thinking I can imagine. ”
Yes, well, I wasn’t referring to just anyone who is anti-Zionist. I was referring to the Neturei Karta and anyone else who supports and assists murderers. A word of advice: before you throw out words like “slanted” and crazy”, try to read and understand what you are trying to criticize.
“Can’t people just get along?? ”
Looking at several thousand years of history, I’d say probably not. And wishful thinking won’t help.
“Anyway, if anti-Zionists are somehow pro-murder, then Zionists are, too. We all have blood on our hands…”
Really. Too bad you couldn’t tell that to Wiesenthal while he was still alive. You may think feeling that way is a sign of your moral superiority. In reality, such phony equality is at best a sign of your laziness and lack of engagement with the world as it is. It’s contrary to common sense and to any form of Judaism, and where applied results in greater injustice.
“so let’s forgive and forget and have a good friggin’ Yom Kippur already. ”
Great idea. All you people who lost their children to terrorism and had to place a bag of small scraps of flesh in a tiny coffin, Flurry says to stop being mad at the perpetrators and those who supported them. You nasty, stubborn people! Just forgive and forget already. Move on, soreheads.
But I’m sure Flurry, in his advanced state of righteousness, would be willing to forgive and forget any harm done to him. Yeah, right.

  11. Sad, but I can’t say I’m surprised. It isn’t just marginalized premodern orthodox like Neturei Karta that are getting these Kahanist threats. It is also mainstream propeace zionists, like Rabbi Lerner at Tikkun and the heads of Peace Now. Look at Masada2000.

  12. This is a dastardly attack on a House of Worship.
Regarding Political Zionism and Neturei Karta, people should be aware of a certain brilliant figure from the past, namely the Jewish orthodox rationalist, Mar Samuel, of the Academy of Sara, Babylon, from about the year 220 ace. He made a famous decision, which by the way most affected the Jews, and was expressed in the phrase, Dina d’malchuthah dina—”The law of the land is the law for us.” This means that it was the duty of all people including the Jews to obey the laws of the countries in which we live.
Jeremiah’s famous quote, which should be etched into every adult’s consciousness, was “Seek the peace of the country whither ye are exiled and pray to the Lord-for its welfare.” The ultimate result of Samuel’s dictum was that the better the Jew, the better the patriot.
Jeremiah out trumps Jabotinsky in the Wisdom Card Game by a mile.
The above may explain somewhat my worldview/belief system.
