This is my friend Bonnie Schwartz. We grew up around the corner from each other. She is the shit and I love her dearly. In this photo, taken by our friend Chris (aka Darieus), she is swimming the English Channel. Bonnie completed her run in just under thirteen and a half hours and with a torn rotator cuff at that! She is — to our knowledge — the first Jewish woman to ever successfully swim the Channel (and she also gives swimming lessons at the JCC in Manhattan and Yeshiva University).
