I See Your True Colors Shining Through

TMZ.com:

TMZ has learned that Mel Gibson went on a rampage when he was arrested Friday on suspicion of drunk driving, hurling religious epithets. TMZ has also learned that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department had the initial report doctored to keep the real story under wraps.
TMZ has four pages of the original report prepared by the arresting officer in the case, L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy James Mee. According to the report, Gibson became agitated after he was stopped on Pacific Coast Highway and told he was to be detained for drunk driving Friday morning in Malibu. The actor began swearing uncontrollably. Gibson repeatedly said, “My life is f****d.” Law enforcement sources say the deputy, worried that Gibson might become violent, told the actor that he was supposed to cuff him but would not, as long as Gibson cooperated. As the two stood next to the hood of the patrol car, the deputy asked Gibson to get inside. Deputy Mee then walked over to the passenger door and opened it. The report says Gibson then said, “I’m not going to get in your car,” and bolted to his car. The deputy quickly subdued Gibson, cuffed him and put him inside the patrol car.
[…] The report says Gibson then launched into a barrage of anti-Semitic statements: “F*****g Jews… The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.” Gibson then asked the deputy, “Are you a Jew?”
[…] Deputy Mee then wrote an eight-page report detailing Gibson’s rampage and comments. Sources say the sergeant on duty felt it was too “inflammatory.” A lieutenant and captain then got involved and calls were made to Sheriff’s headquarters. Sources say Mee was told Gibson’s comments would incite a lot of “Jewish hatred,” that the situation in Israel was “way too inflammatory.” It was mentioned several times that Gibson, who wrote, directed, and produced 2004’s “The Passion of the Christ,” had incited “anti-Jewish sentiment” and “For a drunk driving arrest, is this really worth all that?”

NY Times:

“If it’s true what’s reported, frequently hatred, bigotry and prejudice, which is controlled, explodes at moments of stress and crisis,” said Rabbi Abraham H. Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League. “Liquor loosens the tongue of what’s in the mind and in the heart, and in his mind and in his heart is his conspiracy theory about Jews and hatred of Jews.”

Gibson, whose father is a known Holocaust denier, is currently at work on a mini-series about the Shoah for ABC television.

  1. Jeez, considering that the Christian rightwing–your biggest apologists and benefactors in the US–loves Mel so much, just think of what they have in store for the Jewish state in the ‘end of times’.
Sounds like a big-bang party that the Middle East is all invited to.
Damn, with friends and apologists like these, you don’t need the Arabs as enemies. LOL

  2. Good point Sydney? This is absolute madness, and Haaretz has caught the bug too. Do you see it is offline now? Wonder what’s going on there.

  3. All I can hope for is that the ‘eye for an eye’ logic is recognized for the blindness that it really is.
For God’s sake–the Jews of the world should be leading the way away from the nazi madness that killed so many of their good people. Aligning with the superpower–who could give a shit about Jews in general–was/is a mistake. The US are today’s nazis–its all about being the global superpower, taking over the world and killing anyone who would get in their anglo-way.
White European racism is alive and well in the US. True dat.

  4. Heh heh, ahh young Sydney….I remember my first beer. You’ll figure it all out someday.

  5. Bull, figure what out?–what you are trying to imply in your comments? LOL
Seems that too many beers makes you cynical and angry–flailing about wildly as you loose sight of what makes life livable and beautiful.

  6. “The US are today’s nazis–”
Sydney C., meet Mel G. You two have so much in common. And if you aren’t too busy, I’d like to take you to a World War II veterans reunion. I’m sure they’ll love to hear what you have to say.

  7. Can’t beat the bull can’t dialogue with Sydney C, so he patronizes him: Ok, kid, be naive. But, you’ll eventually grow to be an old crust like me, who can’t visualize a just future…

  8. I can’t wait for the audio to come out. “I own Malibu!” says Gibson. Well, after these remarks, all us Jews who “own Hollywood” will no doubt think hard about seeking out his over dramatic acting skills. I really hope this doesn’t get swept under the rug. Making anti-semitic statements like this, especially when you are a celebrity is NOT FREAKING KOSHER!!! Sorry, no pun intended. I really hope he gets crucified for this (again with the pun, sorry).

  9. Well, given the very well recorded history of US supported state terrorism, i think you are smoking crack to not believe that the US are today’s nazis. It’s just that the bad guys won–and they are doing their best to take the rest of the world down with them.
No, after Central and South America, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Congo, Iran, Iraq, etc.—I just don’t believe the WASP lies that the US is the good guy. Don’t like it–shoot me you fasicist pig.
Having said that, I will fight for the ideals of democracy and justice that have been advanced by many decent people fighting for justice and against exploitation throughout the ages.
We are winning–even if you ignorant assholes blow up much of the world. It won’t be the WASPS and the Euros that lead the world to a more sane human state of peace–despite what Hollywood and the corporate media would have their ‘consumers’ (moo, mooooo, LOL) believe.

  10. By the way, J, I have excoriated many a WWII vet for supporting dropping A-bombs on innocent Japanese civilians. Sorry, just like I don’t think that stuffing Jewish kids in ovens was cool, neither was dropping two a-bombs that murdered hundreds of thousands of people. Sure, the deaths were quicker–but no less dispicable.
If these WWII war heros did not like what I had to say, I am sure that saying it would hasten their trip to see the man with the long white beard (that old pissed-off white guy in the sky)–and there ‘he’ (or, more likely ‘She’) would striaighten them out.
Don’t like nazi fascsim and terrorism–then don’t participate it in. Truth hurts don’t it? But it’s the only way to grow.

  11. Sid,
After spending so much of my time excoriating those on the Idiot Right for their obnoxious, jargon-filled rants, it’s reassuring to see that egregious stupidity is an equal opportunity provider. Most of all, I love to see how you justify the legitimacy of your position in precisely the same manner, i.e., “The Truth Hurts.” Of course; the whole explanation for anyone who fails to acknowledge the brilliance and moral clarity of your self-aggrandizing doggerel is that they’re unable or unwilling to admit The Truth.
Well, here’s another theory: Your “arguments” are so baseless and gratuitously offensive as to give rise to the suspicion that you’re a rightwing clown trying to make the Left look like halfwits. Assuming you’re for real, however, here are the most outstandingly obnoxious attributes of your screed:
I have excoriated many a WWII vet for supporting dropping A-bombs on innocent Japanese civilians.
Now that is one hell of a profile in courage. Just curious, though: Are all the veterans you excoriate crippled 85-year-old blind men in wheelchairs, or do you go after some ambulatory ones with canes as well? I wonder if many of them were men like my father, who had started his freshman year in high school when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, after which he enlisted in the Army at 17 before being sent to the Pacific. He’ll undoubtedly be among those God intends to “straighten out,” won’t he, since the decision to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki – which, of course, he had nothing to do with – was equivalent to the Nazi genocide of European Jewry in extermination camps?
Though I’ve always been perfectly sympathetic to revisionist histories of America’s decision to drop the bomb in World War II – as well as such other tactics as the carpet-bombing of Dresden, for example – to claim an equivalence between that decision and the Nazi genocide of the Jews constitutes precisely the type of self-righteous condescension that has rendered the Left an object of loathing and ridicule among much of the American public. Even more appalling is your smug attribution of responsibility for dropping the bomb to those who had nothing to do with the decision, and who – when they hadn’t been conscripted in the first place – had joined the Army in response to an unequivocal act of aggression against their own country. Indeed, your sneering arrogance is redolent of nothing so much as the sanctimonious assholes who spit on returning Vietnam vets and called them baby-killers, thus bearing a disproportionate share of responsibility for delivering this country into the clutches of Richard Nixon.
Are you really so morally obtuse as to fail to recognize that in addition to instigating a imperial war of conquest against the U.S. and all of Asia, Japan, as a matter of deliberate policy, routinely committed brutal atrocities against civilian populations that rivaled the savagery and malevolence of anything the Nazi’s came up with? That its military dictatorship retained the devoted loyalty of the populace as a whole, and that legitimate military assessments had estimated the number of prospective Allied casualties resulting from an invasion of the Japanese mainland to be at least in the hundreds of thousands, not to mention the likely millions of dead Japanese?
As I said, I have no problem whatever with speculation as to whether an unconditional surrender of Japan was strategically necessary or morally appropriate, or whether the decision to drop the bomb was made less on the basis of military necessity than it was on political calculations regarding the incipient conflict with the Soviet Union. You, of course, have done nothing of the kind. What you have done is claim that the U.S. is comprised of Nazis, that dropping the bomb was the moral equivalent of the Holocaust, and that American World War II veterans are as morally culpable as Nazi Storm Troopers, which collectively add to one thing: You’re more full of shit than a Christmas turkey.
