Taking the Torah To The Streets (Or Cafés)

The semimonthly Behind the Front series (see the flyer on the MySpace yeshiva), a series of talks on Torah and Jewish spirituality presented by Jewish artists and sponsored by Modular Moods records, is kicking off officially this Wednesday night on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The series features Jewish artists giving presentations on their impressions of various Torah topics, with a question-and-answer session to follow.
The series aims to give audiences a chance to hear the philosophies behind the Jewish artists in the inspirational music arena, to be a metaphysical “behind the music” to stimulate dialogue and promote idea exchange.
One of this week’s featured speakers, yours truly, Y-LOVE, will be speaking about The Story of Creation from Genesis and its relations to human perceptions of G-d in the modern world. The indefatigable DJ Handler will be speaking about the end of the Book of Deuteronomy and the national transition of Israel subsequent to the death of Moses. Admission is free; the talk begins at 9 PM at Cafe Earthmatters at 177 Ludlow Street in Manhattan (MTA: F J M Z to Essex Street – Delancey, B D to Grand Street).
