So, nu? Now what? Now the US should stop because something ridiculous the US is now doing to Iraq is worse than something terrorists from a number of different countries (but who all represent one big blob of Muslim, USA-hating Arabs) did on 9/11? What about the # of Iraqis killed by US forces or as a result of our occupation there? What about the number of people who have been killed in Afganistan as part of Bush’s “War on Terror”? What about the Muslim-American and Arab-American lives that have been destroyed due to discrimination in the USA?
I apologize for my rant – I truly recognize the need to mourn all deaths – Arab, American, Iraqi, Sunni, Shi’ite, Jewish, Christian, Afgani…but until we see the result of this war as mournful for people on both sides, we will still be stuck in a world of hate.

It’s interesting that regardless of the means of communication, we all seem to recognize that part of the tragedy of these numbers is that the president cares a lot more about the lives of Wall Streeters than he does about the lives of the impoverished young people who are brainwashed into enlisting, or do so because they see it as the only way they can escape their communities, or get an education, or be able to eat regularly. The armed forces should especially not be recruiting on a platform of education, given that the returning soldiers get fewer benefits now than they have in the last century.

How many Muslims in the middle east are living more free lives because their governments, while pretty awful, are not as awful as they would have been had the Taliban taken them over?

This country has virtually no potable water, no electricity, no health care, no jobs, no petro. Teachers, physicians, engineers have been assassinated a la Pol Pot & the French terror. Though a conservative country, women only wore hajib or burka if they so desired.
Now, can you tell me that Iraq is BETTER now, than it was under Saddam (who had nothing to do with 9/11)?

Miriam: the premise of the 9/11 truth movement is that a single fact may be so explosive as to bring the whole system down. If only that were so…. you need to understand that conspiracies can work so well that uncovering them is irrelevant. “proving” that the official story is wrong will NOT be a mobilizing force for change in this country. It does NOT expose a hidden faction to the light of day. We will NOT have trials of black ops people where they spill thier guts out and reveal all.
I challenge all the conspiracy nuts to show a single example of how uncovering some big ‘secret’ resulted in regime change in a Democratic country….. To use a modern example, even Nixon’s crimes only resulted in a Ford presidency…. that’s the most we can really expect too.
Last but not least: I wish Ford had waited till JB was in the ground. He is more important.
