Surprised by God: Zeek and Hadar Launch Party

What do you get when you take Hadar (a successful indy-minyan on Manhattan’s upper west side whose founders recently created Mechon Hadar, with a full time yeshiva coming this summer) and have them co-produce an issue of Zeek: A Jewish Journal of Thought and Culture?
A unique evening of music, art, and celebration. It’s also the first place you’ll be able to pick up your copy of the issue that includes a forum on independent minyanim. (Note: these articles are not available online; however, you can purchase a subscription to Zeek from the website)
Some of the articles are:
-Roundtable discussion with minyan leaders
-Riv-Ellen Prell on the sociology of prayer groups
-Ethan Tucker on how indy minyans will save the Jews
-Ilana Kurshan on stacking chairs in Jerusalem
In addition to the artists listed in the flyer below, Monday’s even will also feature original works by Jorge Ariel Hoffman and Heather Stoltz, as well as the jazzy rhythms of Avi Fox-Rosen and Yoshie Fruchter (who many of you have heard play bass for Soulfarm and Juez).

  1. It’s also the first place you’ll be able to pick up your copy of the issue that includes a forum on independent minyanim.
This is the same issue we subscribers got in the mail a week or two ago, right? It’s good stuff, by the way. I particularly enjoyed the article about nondualism and the minyan leader roundtable.

  2. erotic mediation? I’m not sure how it fits into the indy minyan thing, but, I guess its a draw for someone.
