I didn’t see the news–where has this been announced?
NY Times – http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/18/nyregion/18hertzberg.html

He will be missed.
I remember him from when I was a little kid at Temple Emanuel. He would say the most awful things to his congregation, but many of them needed to be said. I can’t help but wonder who will be able to take his place in Jewish discourse. Baruch dayan haemet.
dan – i am so sorry to hear this. such a sweet man – he gave so much to the world, and even liked the environment (remember that conversation i had with him?). i will be sorely missed. may his memory be a blessing.
