High & Holy: A Jew Revue
From the inbox:
Storahtelling: Jewish Ritual Theater Revived! invites everyone to repent in style with a High Holiday-themed variety show Wednesday, September 22nd at 7:00PM in Edmond J. Safra Hall, the theater at the Museum of Jewish Heritage — Living Memorial to the Holocaust.
Hosted by the illustrious Rebbetzin Hadassah Gross (aka Storahtelling’s Amichai Lau-Lavie) and featuring a line-up of cutting-edge New York City Jewish performers, High & Holy features a fresh and offbeat pastiche of tales, tunes, and talent. Joining the Rebbetzin Gross is Frank London of the Klezmatics, Vanessa “Hebrew Mamita” Hidary, Yoel Ben-Simhon of Sultana Ensemble, stand-up comic Michael Feldman, and the High & Holy House Band — The Sway Machinery.
This artistic collaboration during the week between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur approaches the Jewish New Year from pluralistic underpinnings — exposing the artists’ varied and imaginative perspectives on the holy week of repentance and the holidays that bookend it. Join us for this stage-bound clash of spirituality and style, humor and irreverence, observance and absurdity.
