Israeli Photographer wins Pulitzer for Amona Coverage

Israeli Oded Bality just won a Pulitzer for the best breaking news photography of the year:


And how. In the background stand settler supporters watching the nine Amona houses smoke and settler teens man the rooftops, while the first officer in a phalanx of Israeli police is held at bay by a solitary woman. For a scuffle over nine houses, this photograph captured the cosmic nature of the events at Amona. This image broke through to an infrequently-covered core of the Israeli-Palestinian struggle: the Israeli-Israeli conflict. Congrats, Oded.
