It's For The Children
I got this comic back in the day so that one day I could teach my daughters the story of the Jews’ deliverance from bondage. Imagine my surprise when I found that Passover the comic and Passover the holiday have very little in common. I know, you’d think I would have figured that out by the cover alone. I thought maybe they were just embellishing the Passover story a little with the scary angel with the bloody axe. You know, jazz it up for the kids.
But no.
David Campbell reviews Passover — an overwhelmingly bad comic book from 1996 which features “Creeping Death” as the protagonist.
If you have the A Different Night haggadah, check out the picture on page 164. The Angel of Death (in Chad Gadya) is totally one of the ghosts from Pac-Man.
Holy shit, that looks like something I would’ve drawn back in the day during my comic-book phase! Almost makes me wanna cop some non-photo-repro-blue pencils and get back to work on my ‘Abraham: Levantine Warlord’ comic.
