I like this part towards the end:

Is Judaism inherently a progressive religion? Are you a sci-fi Jew?
Tremendously enjoyed the essay, even if it’s mostly feel-good self-back-patting preaching to the choir. My favorite sci-fi author, David Brin, has made similar points in various essays — but he doesn’t see the fight as between liberals and conservatives, but between pragmatists and ideologues.
Nothing wrong with a little bit of self patting every now and then, gotta keep that fire going! Interesting chiluk between pragmatists and ideologues. Are all ideologues looking backwards to some kind of lost ideal?
