Nick Kristof joins the party… finally
Nicholas Kristof’s opinion piece today in the newspaper of record finally puts him on the side of the angels:
The Israeli occupation of the West Bank is widely acknowledged to be unsustainable and costly to the country’s image. But one more blunt truth must be acknowledged: the occupation is morally repugnant.
The whole piece is worthwhile, but this is his basic vort.
Someone allowed a domain name to expire, but….
This isn’t a ‘finally’ moment for Kristof. Not by a long shot.

Thanks, JG. I am a fan of Kristoff’s but managed to miss his writings on Israel/Palestine. Mea culpa. I stand corrected. This is still a great piece.

This new piece seems really significant to me because of its focus on the immorality of the occupation, not just that it makes Israel look bad and is bad for Israeli security. I am no expert on the media. How many Opeds in the NY times have done that?

@shmap, its actually worse. the phrase “side of the angels” actually comes from the anti-evolution crowd in nineteenth century england… if you want to get all picky about it.
