so i run this online radio project, and i’ve got this one dj who plays really awful music. and it pisses me off. it’s all bad jewish parodies and folk songs (stairway to shabbos, camp grenada, minyan man), musicals and schoolhouse rock. it really pisses me off. i had to vent.
dude! it’s pride weekend everywhere and especially here in SF. i am bringing a pack of friends – including some visiting israelis – to the gay shul in town, shaar zahav. yay pride shabbat! anyone else in the gay area? come join us, 16th and dolores at 7:30.
jsut saw michael moore’s new documentary – fahrenheit 911. it was incredible and i highly reccommend it. say what you will about moore and see the film with a grain of salt, but it was amazing and exposed a lot of things to the public that need to become a part of this importnat discussion.
i saw Fahrenheit 9/11 too, and it was amazing. This is definately not a usual moore film. For those of you who thinks moore spins and editorializes too much, you will be relieved to see that moore doesnt speak much in the film. most of the movie is footage that speaks for itself. Every american needs to see this movie because it contains the truth that has been hidden for so long.

Uh, no: editing footage is an authorial act. Footage is an inert lump of celluloid. It never speaks for itself: the author speaks through it.
Which is, I guess, the first step in Christopher Hitchens’ critique.
