Sephardi wins da prize, mon
While you may have been made aware that Grammy award-winning singer Whitney Huston is, in fact, a Black Hebrew by her recent trip to Israel, little is it known that reggae-sensation Sean Paul, last night’s winner of the Grammy for Best Reggae Album, comes from a family of Sephardi Jews living in Jamaica.
His father’s family are Jews from Portugal who immigrated to Jamaica in the mid-1600s. Paul, 30, attended Jamaica’s Hillel Academy, a nondenominational school sponsored by the country’s Jewish community.
His mother is of Chinese-Jamaican heritage.
Wow! He sounds almost Jewish enough to run for president, and Chinese food to boot!
