It’s a J, not a hooked nose. That’s the little finger making a hook in the air. I have also seen a “stroking the beard” gesture for Jewish.

Alright, that’s pretty funny. Maybe it’s a little offensive, but with a mediocre imagination, much dirty and offensives signs could be thought of.
