Non-profit Jewish magazine seeks organized, detail-oriented person who is eager to learn more about the business side of running an independent print and online magazine. As a publishing intern, you will:
Learn how to manage fulfillment for a print journal
Learn how to build a donor database
Learn technical elements of printing and distribution
Learn how to pitch ads and sponsorships in a down market
After an unpaid three-month internship, a successful intern will receive a
small stipend ($250/month) plus a percent of any revenue you generate.
Opportunity to gain the title of circulation manager or even publisher, as
magazine seeks to triple its number of subscribers and go quarterly.
Intern will be closely supervised by a publishing consultant with 10+ years experience working with independent magazines.
Requirements:
Based in SF Bay Area
Available to meet in San Francisco 1-2 times per week
Detail-oriented, responsible, and organized
Advanced knowledge of Excel
Experience with databases (any program)
Sales and/or accounting/financial experience a plus
Interest in Judaism a plus
