Jews Chime in on Schwarzenegger Victory
The JTA asks, “What’s a Jew to do when the Republican son of a Nazi Party member defeats the Democratic incumbent to become governor of the nation’s most populous state?”
Welp, according to L.A.’s Jewish Journal, 30% of Jewish voters cast ballots for Aghnold. So, I guess they celebrate?
Apparently few Jews seem to care about Arnold’s Nazi roots, nor his close friendship with Kurt Waldheim. Even Austrian Jews have dismissed mention of Arnold’s self-proclaimed admiration of Hitler (merely as a leader and a public speaker, he contends) as “election propaganda.” The American Jewish community didn’t seem to care about Dubya’s Nazi roots either, so I guess it’s just par for the course.
At least not every Jew is happy about Schwarzenegger’s win (present company included). Tikkun offers an analysis of what to expect from the new governor and suggestions for how progressive should handle the situation.
I’m with you on this one. What a crock – and they brought it too. As David Letterman put it “Florida is no longer the Dumbest State.”

He’s cool on a few social issues, but I’ve been hearing rumblings of him meeting with the big Energy companies whose con artistry helped to put California in the fiscal crisis in the first place (think Enron and friends)
It makes me wonder if he’s as dirty as the Bush crew as far as big business is concerned.. and I’m afraid of the answer.
