About that speech

Just to recap:

  1. The President of Israel opposes the speech.
  2. Several presently sitting senior Israeli security officials oppose the speech.
  3. The former head of the Mossad opposes the speech.
  4. 180+ retired IDF generals oppose the speech.
  5. Five former Israeli ambassadors oppose the speech.
  6. Netanyahu’s own adviser opposed the speech. (He backpedalled.)
  7. AIPAC opposed the speech. (They backpedalled.)
  8. The ADL opposed the speech. (They also backpedalled.)
  9. Rabbi Rick Jacobs, the head of America’s largest Jewish religious denomination, opposes the speech.
  10. The majority of Israelis oppose the speech.
  11. The majority of Americans oppose the speech.
  12. The President, Vice President, and 60 members of Congress oppose the speech.
  13. Even Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman opposes the speech, though for very different reasons than everyone above.

But, Netanyahu is “the emissary of all Israelis, even those who disagree” with him. And he speaks for all Jews. And tomorrow, he’s going to tell you what “we” think, whether we think it or not, and whether we like it or not. And if you don’t like it, you’re a self-hating Jew, or an antisemite, or both.
And if you believe that, I have a lovely bridge spanning the East River with your name all over it.
