Debate Schedule Leaves Jews At A Loss

The Daily News reports,

Observant Jews are unhappy with the schedule for the televised debates between President Bush and Democratic challenger John Kerry, saying the dates put politics and religion at loggerheads.

The first debate, to be held next Thursday in Coral Gables, Fla., coincides with the Jewish harvest holiday of Succoth. The second, slated Oct. 8 – a Friday – in St. Louis, falls on the eve of the Sabbath.
