I was actually in the process of finishing up my story on Roberta Gratz, the director of the Eldridge Street Synagogue restoration project, when I stumbled across this terrifying bit of news:

Authorities think the 117-year-old Eldridge Street Synagogue, a dilapidated building on a crowded Chinatown street, could be a terrorist target – much to the surprise of its small and aging congregation.
