From the "The World is No Longer Flat" Department

The Senate Intelligence Committee released a report today saying that the Bay of Pigs invasion was stupid the Gulf of Tonkin incident was made up Bush and Cheney lied us into a war.

“In making the case for war, the administration repeatedly presented intelligence as fact when, in reality, it was unsubstantiated, contradicted or even nonexistent,” said Sen. John D. Rockefeller IV (D-W.Va.), chairman of the intelligence panel. “Sadly, the Bush administration led the nation into war under false pretenses.”

And, of course, the report “doesn’t call for penalties or a follow-up inquiry.”

  1. Aryeh,
Thanks for the post. It’s hard to know how to feel.
My parents belong to Beth Am in the Bay Area and went to Israel and Poland on a temple trip. I just finished watching a short film made by the temple. There were sequences for each concentration camp visited and some from Krakow and Warsaw. My parents said the Kaddish at Treblinka where some of our family died.
Now in the next century, it seems we get so focused on the grand, big events, that it becomes increasingly hard to focus on the local, like i know Ikar (http://www.ikar-la.org/) is trying to do, and which I keep saying I will join, but also find it hard to make time. We’re all so over-networked.
But there is great stuff. I remember 9/11 as I struggled to find a TV to watch (still don’t own one). All the Mexican kids were being walked to their schools by their parents, like it was any other day, and in some ways, it was like any other day, and in others, it wasn’t.
