I got my first piece published in today’s Forward, based on my obsession with Israeli late-night show Mi Rotzeh L’hiyot Yehudi while I was in Israel last month. I want you all to know that the first sentence was hotly contested between a bevy of editors and yours truly. Calm down, Beavis, is all I can say.
Gil Kopatch wants to be a bridge between Israel’s secular and religious populations and passionately wants to raise the level of knowledge of secular youth.
“Even in this shallow TV game show, we can teach some Halacha and customs and mitzvahs — even tiny drops of philosophy,” he said. “Everything you teach on the show could make a difference.”
