Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership
Am I the last person to know that such an exciting group of activists exists? They seem to be classifiable as “special” in all sorts of new and creative ways.

There’s a great segment in one of the episodes of John Safran vs. God, an excellent old Australian tv show, where John meets with a Rabbi who is a member of JPFO. Sadly, it appears that it’s not on the youtube or other video sites.
Sundance channel has a clip of it, but stops before it gets really good: http://www.sundancechannel.com/videos/230204543
the “star of david” is somewhat of a mistranslation. the hebrew, “magen david” means “shield of david”. magen comes from the root g-n-n and means to defend. (see Isaiah 31:5 for the root in action) as an aside, the same root in arabic means bravery, so you can see how bravery and resistence could be related. but interestingly, it also means craziness. not hard to imagine how a suicide bomber who speaks arabic could perceive his own insanity with bravery.

Now I haven’t checked out the website, but what is wrong with the concept of defending one’s right to own firearms?
If 5% of the Jews of Europe had had firearms…
Oren, that puts a new twist on the word “Djinn”, which derives “Majnoun”.
