NY Press Editor Calls It Quits Over Racy Pope Story
Jeff Koyen, the editor of The NY Press, has tenured his resignation after an outcry from public officials including Senator Chuck Schumer and Congressman Anthony Weiner over his recent publication of a cover feature detailing “The 52 Funniest Things About The Upcoming Death Of The Pope.”
Matt Taibbi, the piece’s author, responds to the backlash here.
I don’t care about the Pope one way or the other, but the thing was straight up tasteless. And not even funny at all. Why the hell did they publish it? Response to the backlash piece was much more entertaining.
I agree with Jake. The trouble with jokes is that they have to be FUNNY.
