MyJewishLearning.com seeks Senior Editor
MyJewishLearning.com is seeking a full-time Senior Editor to supervise the website’s day-to-day editorial operations and work closely with MJL’s Editor-in-Chief in shaping the site’s content and priorities.
The Senior Editor will work out of MJL’s New York office.
Responsibilities include:
- Identifying content needs
- Creating editorial calendars for article and homepage production
- Assigning and managing work of MJL’s editorial staff
- Commissioning and editing work of freelance writers
- Assembling homepages and email newsletters
- Publishing articles using MJL’s content management system (no knowledge of HTML necessary)
- Contributing to MJL’s blog
- Creating new editorial projects and features
The ideal candidate will have:
- excellent editing and writing skills
- the ability to manage a small staff of fellow editors
- a broad knowledge of Judaism and Jewish culture, including contemporary trends in academia and Jewish communal life
- good familiarity with the web and web publications
- The Senior Editor must have both knowledge of Judaism/Jewish life AND writing/editing experience.
The position will commence in February 2007.

Oyhoo seeks design intern
“We are a multifaceted company that puts on pop concerts, festivals, charity events, celebrity parties, Jewish music and holiday events, as well as handling websites and records for up & coming artists.
We are looking for a reliable, technologically inclined intern who can handle a diverse workload. You will be working under the direction of the executive producer and designer to create marketing materials such as postcards, emailers, one-sheets, and ads for major NYC press, as well as editing web and video content.
Desired Skills:
- technologically inclined, html savvy
- Fast learner
- Proactive
- Quark Xpress, Photoshop, & video editing prefered, but not required
20-25 hours/wk
$200 a week
This can grow into a full time position for the right person

Teva Learning Center seeks Office Administrator
Full-time (40 hours a week) Office Administrator for the Teva Learning Center
Salary: $30-35K
This is a great position for someone looking for experience in a non-profit, management role with room to grow in a dynamic Jewish, Environmental organization. The successful candidate will be able to commit for at least 1 year to this rising Jewish non-profit based in downtown New York City. He/she will be a self-starter who is able to take initiative on projects. He/She will be someone who enjoys the challenge of independently coordinating and running the central hub of a busy, thriving business with many remote offices. He/she will be creative, solution-oriented and a quick thinker with highly developed interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor. The successful candidate must have an appreciation for the Mission of the Teva Learning Center and Jewish Environmentalism.
Required Skills:
A strong office administration background including:
* Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Proficiency with html coding and web-based email programs
* Ability to write routine correspondence, including press releases
* Editing and layout experience
* Ability to conduct research on the Internet
* Comfort navigating computer files and manipulating databases
* Excellent phone skills including experience with customer service or reception
* Ability to create efficient filing systems
* Ability to manage multiple calendars; coordinating schedules with varying time zones
Job Description:
* Assist director with fundraising, recruitment and organizational vision
* Work independently in a busy office to provide support for all Teva programs including but not limited to: assembling curricular materials, researching educational information and seeking to continually improve organizational offerings
* Manage Director’s schedule and calendar, setting up interviews, phone calls and appointments
* Using html code to update the website and compose emails in a web-based direct marketing program
* Liaise between Teva, schools, and organizations
* Manage and sort mail and correspondence for Director and Associate Director
* Maintain integrity of office filing system
* Process income and invoices
* Facilitate receipt of supplies and materials needed from parent and sister organizations
* Other duties as assigned
