Reality Tumah Box
Speaking of Survivor… There have been more inane ideas for ‘reality TV’ themes (see Who wants to marry my dad?) than anyone would care to notice. But Israel’s new reality show is sure to make its own waves.
“The Yeshiva” took over two years to film and follows the lives of several Rabbis and ‘year 12’ yeshiva students of an Orthodox Yeshiva in Jerusalem. While some welcomed and others shunned the cameras, the opening scene of course, features an argument between a bachur and his girlfriend over the frequency (lack thereof) of their seeing each other as the first insight into a community that doesn’t really watch TV anyway.
Come to think of it, the show could have been called Big Brother, Survivor, The Amazing Race, The Bachelor, Fear Factor…
