Different kind of celebrities here… Last Sunday I saw the “Red Army Choir and Orchestra” at Lincoln Center. Was hot stuff, choreography, balalaikas, vintage Soviet bling-bling etc. My friend who had no emotional attachment to “Ochi Chernie” and such, dozed off, but woke up dazed to them singing “Shalom Aleichem” and “Chava Nagila”. Can you dig that? Red Army Choir?? Was a little over the top, but still flattering. The last tune they sang was “God bless America”, also kinda ironic. Mark my word, 20 years down the road, tame ageing Hamas boys will be singing “Od Yishama” at Avery Fisher Hall.
