The three black-clad haredim appeared incongruous among a busload of footloose backpackers en route to the sacred Hindu town of Rishikesh on the banks of the river Ganges.
“We’re the advance party setting up a Beit Chabad for the High Holy Days,” explained Jacob Sall, 32, a former computer programmer from Jacksonville, Florida who now lives in Israel.
“We’re in India on a mission – to save those who bow down to idols. If Jews want Judaism, we’re here for them.”
