Calling all Jewish artists and teachers

The National Havurah Committee Summer Institute is August 7-13, 2006, at Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, New Hampshire, and you’re all going to be there! The NHC is a participatory nondenominational egalitarian multigenerational Jewish community. Here’s a blog rant all about the 2005 Institute. The 2006 Institute theme is “V’hayah im shamoa’ tishme’u” / “If you really listen…”. People in their 20s and early 30s can apply for the Everett Fellowship and go for mad cheap.
You’ll hear more about the Institute, and its amazing teachers and artists, when the time comes closer. For now, you have the opportunity to be one of those amazing teachers and artists!
Applications are being accepted for Artists In Residence and for course proposals. Courses have been on a wide range of topics — think outside the box! At the NHC, every teacher is a student and every student is a teacher, so teachers/artists teach their own course for 90 minutes a day and participate in the rest of the Institute program for the other 22.5 hours. Teachers attend for free, and Artists In Residence receive a stipend on top of this. The deadline to submit proposals is November 28. Full information, as well as the application forms, can be found at www.havurah.org. Pass this on to any great artists/teachers you’d love to learn from!
